The Associate in Science (AS) Degree is designed primarily for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university with a major in natural or physical sciences, mathematics, or in preparation for professional fields such as medicine, dentistry, dietetics, environmental science, natural resources or engineering.

General Education Requirements
English Composition (6 credits)
Humanities and Fine Arts (8 credits) - Courses must be taken in more than one academic discipline
- Complete any 100 level or higher Humanities course Credits 8 / 8 Contact Hours
Social Science (8 credits) - Courses must be taken in more than one academic discipline
- Complete any 100 level or higher Social Science course Credits 8 / 8 Contact Hours
Mathematics (3-4 credits)
- Test out by placing into MATH 120 or higher on the MCC Placement test OR Complete any 100 level or higher Mathematics course Credits 3-4 / 3-4
Information Technology (2 credits)
- Complete any 100 level or higher Information Technology course Credits 2 / 2 Contact Hours
Group Total: Credits 28 / 28 Contact Hours
Additional Associate in Science Degree Requirements (34-38 credits)
- Complete 14-18 credits from ASTR, BIOL, CHEM, COMS, GEOL, PHSC, PHYC, SCI. or MATH (except MATH 021 , MATH 072 , MATH 082 ) - one course must have a lab Credits 14-18 / 14-18 Contact Hours
- Consult with an advisor/counselor to determine specific courses to be taken to complete the remaining 16-20 credits needed for the AS Degree Credits 16-20 / 16-20 Contact Hours

Notes:
- A minimum of 40 credits from Humanities, Natural Science & Math and Social Sciences, with at least 18 credits in Natural Science & Math, are required for this degree.
- No more than 50% of credits required in specialized course work, unique to a program, can be transferred from another institution to be applied toward graduation from Mott Community College.
- Cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0.
