Computer Security and Controls professional plan and conduct audits of data processing and data management systems and applications to safeguard assets, ensure the accuracy of data, and promote operational efficiency. They may interview workers and examine records to gather data by following an audit plan using dedicated computer systems and software. They analyze data collected to evaluate the effectiveness of controls and determine the accuracy of reports and efficiency of security of operations. This certificate program has been created in response to a request from the State of Michigan to serve auditing compliance requirements. It is recommended for use by those who are currently auditors. Entrance requirements to this post degree certificate are a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or degree/work experience evaluated by the Information Technology Coordinator.
