This program is competency based and focuses on the NAEYC Standards for Associate Degree Programs. Students who have an AAS Early Childhood Education degree are eligible for positions as classroom assistants in Head Start and Great Start School Readiness classrooms, child care center staff, family child care providers; workers in before/after school programs and various other agencies. A current Child Abuse/Neglect Central Registry (CA/NR) clearance form must be obtained from the Michigan Department of Human Services prior to and presented in the first class meeting of all ECE classes. A copy must be on file in the Fine Arts/Social Sciences division office, MMB 2005 and updated annually. Students must earn a minimum of 2.0 in all ECE occupational specialty courses and earn a minimum of 3.0 in ECED 205 Field Work to met graduation requirements. Students who are planning to transfer to a bachelor program may need to meet higher grade requirements for transferability. Please check the transfer guide for the institution to which you are transferring for more information.

Computer Competency Requirement
Beginning 2016, demonstration of computer competency is a degree requirement at Mott Community College
Computer competency can be demonstrated by one of two ways:
NOTE: Some programs require taking COMG-153; for these programs, the Test-Out option is not available. For those programs that do not require COMG-153, the competency test-out option is available and can be taken in the Academic Testing Center, located on the 3rd floor of the Mott Library.
