This program is designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for career opportunities in the expanding HVAC & R industry. Technicians are responsible for the design, installation, service and sales of refrigeration, climate control equipment and systems for both the residential and light commercial market. The HVAC & R curriculum combines classroom theory and physical principles with laboratory experience using real-world equipment, in installation, service, testing and troubleshooting skills. In addition, students are kept abreast of industry trends such as automatic system controls, high efficiency equipment, environmentally safe refrigerants and the use of both computers and mobile applications.

Computer Competency Requirement

Computer competency can be demonstrated by one of two ways:

NOTE: Some programs require taking COMG-153; for these programs, the Test-Out option is not available. For those programs that do not require COMG-153, the competency test-out option is available and can be taken in the Academic Testing Center, located on the 3rd floor of the Mott Library.
