This degree will prepare students for jobs in the corrections fields, which include federal and state prisons, county and city jails, halfway houses, probation and parole departments, and private security.  This degree also fulfills the educational requirements to be eligible to apply to enter a state-approved training program for the position of corrections officer with the Michigan Department of Corrections.  Students must earn a 2.0 in all CORR, CRJU, SOCY and PSYC coursework to maintain eligibility for MDOC training.

Corrections Officer Training Program Agreement:
After successful completion of Part I or Parts I & II of the Michigan Correctional Officers’ Training Council’s approved Corrections Officer Training Program at Mott Community College students will receive credit for the following courses:  FRSC 161  , HEAL 125  and and CORR general electives for a total of up to 13 credit hours.  To receive this credit the student must present a copy of the Corrections Officer Training Program Certificate/Transcript to the Registrar’s Office.  This agreement applies only to the Corrections Associate of Applied Sciences and Certificate programs.  If the student changes to another program the credits will not apply.

Computer Competency Requirement


Beginning 2016, demonstration of computer competency is a degree requirement at Mott Community College

Computer competency can be demonstrated by one of two ways:

NOTE: Some programs require taking COMG-153; for these programs, the Test-Out option is not available. For those programs that do not require COMG-153, the competency test-out option is available and can be taken in the Academic Testing Center, located on the 3rd floor of the Mott Library.
