The Associate in Fine Arts Degree - Studio Art is designed for students who plan to transfer to a university or art school and major in art, design, or illustration. This degree focuses on art foundation classes, studio courses, and general education requirements that will transfer to other institutions. The artist as entrepreneur is also a core concept of this program. A variety of opportunities to develop one’s goals to become a professional artist, and learn to market and sell one’s art are provided.

General Education Requirements

English Composition (6 credits)

Humanities (6 credits)

Social Science (6 credits)

Complete two 100 level or higher Social Science courses. Courses must be taken in more than one academic discipline. Credits 6 / 6 Contact Hours

Mathematics (3-4 credits)

Complete MATH 115 or MATH 130 or higher Mathematics course.

Additional Associate in Fine Arts Requirement (8 credits)

Complete two 100 level or higher Natural Science courses. Courses must be taken in more than one academic discipline and one course must have a lab Credits 8 / 10-12 Contact Hours

Computer Competency Requirement

Beginning 2016, demonstration of computer competency is a degree requirement at Mott Community College

Computer competency can be demonstrated by one of two ways:

Passing COMG 153 Computers-A Practical Approach
Passing the competency test with a minimum of 70%

NOTE: Some programs require taking COMG-153; for these programs, the Test-Out option is not available. For those programs that do not require COMG-153, the competency test-out option is available and can be taken in the Academic Testing Center, located on the 3rd floor of the Mott Library.
