ENGL-230 Women’s Literature

Credits 3 / 3 Contact Hours
Pre-requisite: Placement into ACRD-090, ACRD-091 or ACRD-092, completion of ELAP-110 with a minimum grade of 2.0, or successful completion of ACRD-080; ENGL 101  or ENGL-103 with a grade of 2.0 or higher.

 
This course focuses on the analysis and appreciation of classic and contemporary literature written by women, including novels, short stories, poems, dramatic works, and essays, and examines key themes throughout history and across cultures, including growing up, sexuality, gender identity and expression, race/ethnicity, marriage, motherhood, work, equality, and personal freedom.

Course Outcomes
1. Apply critical thinking to the analysis of women’s literature
2. Develop clear and coherent written arguments that analyze and interpret women’s literature
3. Examine women’s literature through a lens of global and cultural awareness

4. Participate constructively in discussions focused on the analysis and appreciation of women’s literature
