MAET-260 Media Production Internship

Credits 4 / 4 Contact Hours
Pre-requisite: Placement into ACRD-090, ACRD-091 or ACRD-092, completion of ELAP-110 with a minimum grade of 2.0, or successful completion of ACRD-080; MAET-100 or MAET-140 and program coordinator approval.
Provides media arts majors the chance to intern at a business or organization in a relevant field, under the supervision of a professional. Students will work closely with faculty to arrange and evaluate their experience, which will be contingent on a successful interview with the internship site. Students will choose an internship that aligns with their interests, and are expected to complete at least 150 hours of work during the semester.

  1. Demonstrate the ability to locate production or broadcast facilities in the state and describe its function.

  2. Submit a professional resume.

  3. Interview for a career related position.

  4. Demonstrate good work habits.

  6. Objectively assess the production or facility and the student’s role in its operation.

  7. Apply classroom learning to the work-site experience.

  8. Describe in written reports the “real world” skills gained through the internship experience.

  9. Complete an exit interview between faculty and work-site representative to discuss progress made and skill areas needing improvement.
