DESN-240 Experience Design ICredits 3 / 4 Contact Hours Pre-requisite: Placement into ACRD 080 ; DESN-120, DESN-121 and DESN-130. This course introduces students to user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design for the web and mobile devices. Covers gathering requirements, research, project management and user-centric design concepts to produce HTML and CSS web pages that display accurately on any web-supported device. Includes the creation of user personas, content inventories, mood boards, and wireframes. Covers web standards for color management, design principles, and usability best practices. Computer and software access will be needed to successfully
complete this course.
Course Outcomes
- Create a working, interactive templates appropriate for various devices using mobile-first design principles.
- Identify target audience and create user personas to create an audience-appropriate design.
- Integrate best practices of color management, principles of design, and usability in interactive design.
- Gather client and end user requirements for desired functionality and create experiences based on those requirements.
- Use critical thinking skills to revise interactive designs based on feedback.
- Understand the process of interaction design, including requirements elicitation, prototyping, evaluation and the need for iteration
- Select, adapt and apply suitable interaction design approaches and techniques towards the design of an interactive product.
