PSYC-289 Psychology of Late AdulthoodCredits 3 / 3 Contact Hours Pre-requisite: Placement into RDNG-030 (ACSR-030), completion of ELAP-110 with a minimum grade of 2.0, or successful completion of RDNG-016 or ACLT-074 with a minimum grade of 3.0. Pre-requisite: PSYC-281 The study of adult development and aging. Developmental changes affecting sensation perception memory intelligence personality interpersonal relationships and social involvements will be studied. Psychopathology contemporary intervention techniques bereavement coping strategies death and dying within the context of the aging process.
Course Outcomes 1. Students will be able to define, discuss, and apply specific theoretical concepts studied, relevant to late adulthood and aging. 2. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of changes involving: the aging body, health, cognition, perception, sensation, motivation, emotions, personality, intelligence, social relationships, interpersonal relationships and work. 3. Within the context of aging, students will be able to discuss bereavement, death and dying
