ENGL-112 Reading for College Courses

Credits 3 / 3 Contact Hours
Prerequisite: Placement into RDNG-016  (ACSR-016)
This course is designed to help students learn effective reading strategies for studying and understanding college level textbooks and other material.

Course Outcomes
1. Students will learn strategies to help them come active, effective readers. These strategies will be used before, during and after reading their texts 2. Students will learn to react to an organize information in a variety of ways to enhance learning 3. Students will learn to find main ideas and supporting details 4. Students will learn strategies to integrate vocabulary acquisition with the comprehension of the content in chapters of text 5. Students will discover and analyze text structures as an aid to reading and learning 6. Students will learn to read in specific academic disciplines
