DHYG-115 Head Neck and Oral Anatomy LectureCredits 2 / 2 Contact Hours Pre-requisite: Coordinator’s signature is required for registration; Program Eligibility Requirements; Placement into ENGL-100 (ACSR-100), completion of ELAP-120 with a 2.0, or completion of RDNG-030, ACLT-075 or ACLT-076. A study of the head and neck and oral anatomy as it relates to the oral cavity. Anesthetic sites and techniques will be discussed.
Course Outcomes 1. Identify and describe the various structures and landmarks of the maxilla and mandible 2. Identify and understand the various muscle groupings, their innervation, blood supply, and their role in the oral cavity 3. Name and identify the location of various teeth, both primary and permanent, their individual functions and arrangement 4. Understand the concept of occlusion 5. Identify and understand the temporomandibular joint, its movement, and its relationship to the head and neck region 6. To integrate the total knowledge of the head and neck anatomy and tooth morphology into the function and development of the orofacial complex
