JAPA-111 Beginning Japanese

Credits 4 / 4 Contact Hours
Pre-requisite: Placement into RDNG-030 (ACSR-030) or successful completion of RDNG-016 or ACLT-074 with a minimum grade of 3.0.
Basic structure of the Japanese language with oral and written practice. Emphasis on pronunciation with particular attention to sentence structure and how the language relates to Japanese culture.

Course Outcomes
1. Basic practice in conversational skills. These include listening and speaking with an emphasis on correct pronunciation, grammar, and usage of proper vocabulary 2. There will be a variety of simulated native conversations 3. There will be an emphasis on developing new vocabulary 4. This course will cover basic levels of Japanese grammatical structure and its correct usage 5. This course will discuss Japanese culture and society in order to understand the role of language in the culture
