ARBC-111 Beginning Standard Arabic

Credits 4 / 4 Contact Hours
Pre-requisite: Placement into RDNG-030 (ACSR-030) or
successful completion of RDNG-016 or ACLT-074 with a
minimum grade of 3.0. 
Study of standard Arabic concentrating on various dialects. Emphasis on life and culture in the Arab world with study of basic Arabic scripts. Includes oral and written practice.

Course Outcomes
1. Converse in Arabic by asking and answering questions used in daily life 2. Understand passages read or spoken and respond to questions in English and in Arabic about the passage 3. Following commands given in Arabic 4. Write and read the Arabic alphabets 5. Read simple sentences in Arabic 6. Learn about major cultural aspects of the Arab world 7. Be able to come up with skits in Arabic using the words learned
